SGT Angela Lynn McAfee

Sgt. McAfee is currently assigned to 1st Special Troops Battalion, 1st Brigade, 4th Infantry Division out of Ft. Hood, TX and serving at Camp Taji, Iraq since December, 2005.

While stationed in Korea, Sgt McAfee developed problems with both feet requiring surgery. She had already had surgery to treat a staph infection on her left foot.

At Brooks Army Medical Center in San Antonio Texas she had surgery to correct a problem with her right ankle and while there received a pair of Pajamas from Jammies For GIs. On a tag attached to the pajamas was Cheryl's email address. They have been corresponding ever since.

Sgt McAfee has since been deployed to Iraq and has received several packages from Jammies For GIs which she shares with her unit.

One package contained phone calling cards which enabled many Soldiers in Sgt. McAfee's unit to call home and talk to their families back home.

The American Flag mosaic project turned out to be a stress reliever for her unit. Many of them supplied the artist with self portraits which are included in the mosaic.
